Mr. Wallach is a legendary television broadcasting executive and author, and was the founder of Telemundo, the nation’s second largest Spanish Broadcasting Network. He began his career in broadcasting in 1960 as business manager, and then general manager of the San Diego based television station KOGO-TV. In 1965, he moved to Brazil to oversee the Time-Life Venture, TV Globo in Rio de Janiero. Under his guidance, TV Globo grew to dominate the Brazilian market and became the 4th largest television network in the world, with 31 affiliates and programming provided to 80 countries. In 1985, he secured a license to purchase television channel 52 in Los Angeles, with the plan to make the station a Spanish-language station. He eventually sold the station to the Reliance Insurance Group, and that station became Telemundo. He managed Telemundo until 1987. After leaving Telemundo, he was a consultant for the Italian network, Tele Monte Carlo. He is the author of the autobiographical book, “My Chapter in TV Globo,” published by Top Books.

In the United States today, Latinos are a very strong economic force. If their total economic output was broken out as a separate country, they would rank as the fifth largest country, according to a Latino Donor Report published with Wells Fargo. Today there are over 63 million Hispanic Americans, whose buying power has grown substantially over the last 31 years, from $213 billion in 1990 to over $1.9 trillion in 2021. Hispanic buying power today accounts for approximately 11.1% of the U.S. buying power, with increasing numbers of Hispanics purchasing items via mobile apps than ever before. Latinos as a group skew younger than other racial groups, adding workers to the U.S. labor force at a rate nearly 15 times greater than non-Latinos. Hispanic culture in America has grown considerably over the years, and has had a profound effect in such areas as trade, cultural exchange, linguistic innovation, architecture, fashion and music.
